SafetyEYE protects your plant from a bird’s eye view. Today’s applications require a multitude of sensors, but in future the danger zone will be enveloped in a customised protective cocoon.

The zone that is to be monitored is defined by a virtual envelope curve (blue), which is surrounded by warning zones and detection zones (yellow and red). Any object that encroaches into these zones and exceeds a defined minimum size is immediately detected and reported.

 

Hazard detected - hazard averted

If the object is in the warning zone (yellow), processes are slowed down but can continue. Only in the closest protected area (red) will SafetyEYE trigger an emergency stop command or safety alarm.

This way processes can be precision controlled and can have flexible safeguards. Opt for progress and avoid downtime. Because the massive sums incurred as a result can be put to better use.

 

Combine and integrate - the features of SafetyEYE

The overall SafetyEYE system is made up of various components that combine to form one safety unit. Each system comprises a sensing device, control unit, the SafetyEYE Configurator plus accessories.

Sensing device

The sensing device comprises three different cameras. These observe what's happening and transmit greyscale images. Unlike existing systems that use several cameras, in this case there is no need to calibrate the camera.

Users merely have to install the sensing device above the zone that requires monitoring. So compared with the time it takes to position, set up and check conventional safety devices, SafetyEYE is ready for operation after a very short period of time.

 

Control unit

The control unit consists of an analysis unit and an integrated programmable safety and control system.

The analysis unit receives and processes the image data. In doing so it generates the signals - detection zone violations for example - for the integrated programmable safety and control system.

This in turn forms the interface with the actuator technology. As soon as the safety and control system receives the signal that the closest detection zone has been violated, it immediately shuts down the relevant machine. Other reactions are also a possibility in the area of security.

The programmable safety and control system is part of the analysis unit, with an optional SafetyBUS p/Safety NET p interface. So you can benefit from decentralised, safe networking of all components, fast reaction times for your plant, user-friendly diagnostics and therefore high availability.

 

Software: SafetyEYE Configurator

As complex as the safe camera system may appear at first glance, it's not at all difficult to use SafetyEYE. As the software works intuitively, warning zones and detection zones can be configured quickly and easily on the PC via the SafetyEYE Configurator.

The user is guided through the whole project step by step. Warning and detection zones are set up at the click of a mouse. As well as assigning properties to the 3D zones, it is also possible to assign actions to the inputs and outputs on the PSS programmable safety and control system.

Another special feature: with the SafetyEYE Configurator the user can employ the Ethernet connection to program both the analysis unit and the programmable safety and control system. With its inputs and outputs, this serves as an interface to the machine controller.
