Protection from suspended loads...

Safe drive technology as a risk reduction measure
... thanks to drive-integrated safety

The requirements

Vertical axes and suspended loads must never be allowed to fall unintentionally. In many cases, removal of power is not enough to bring an axis to a safe condition. Often the load's own weight is enough for the axis to fall. Workers who can walk beneath the vertical axis must be protected against the possibility of it falling unintentionally.

The solution

Servo amplifiers PMCprotego DS provide the necessary safety in this case. Thanks to their drive-integrated safety functions, suspended loads can be safeguarded.

The safe brake test function checks the function of the brake. This test can be used to identify any faults in the brake's control. The brake test may be carried out in each production cycle or only every 24 hours, depending on the specific application and the requirement from the risk analysis.

The safe brake control function enables brakes to be controlled safely, thereby preventing suspended loads from falling.

Using safe brake functions means that the braking action is tested automatically, leading to reduced maintenance on the brake. Productivity and availability are also increased. At the same time, the safety of workers within the suspended load's danger zone is guaranteed.
